Today: Assemblyman Brooks Firestone (R-Los Olivos) holds constituent service hours for the first time in Ventura using a converted school bus. The mobile office will be parked behind the County Government Center, 800 S. Victoria Ave., parking Section F, from 9 a.m. to noon, and at Marina Village Shopping Center, 1000 S. Tonight: Assemblyman Nao Takasugi (R-Oxnard) hosts a holiday open house at his district office, 221 E. Daily Drive, Suite 7, Camarillo. Takasugi invites his constituents to sample his “award-winning” chili and other seasonal food for the annual celebration, from 5 to 7 p.m. Information, RSVP: 987-5195.
Saturday: Green Party organizers and community activists launch a “Green Raiders for Nader Committee” to support consumer activist Ralph Nader, who is running for president on the Green Party ticket. The committee meets at 1 p.m. at the home of Green Party member Tom Stafford, 63 Prospect St., Oak View. Information: 649-3591.
Sunday: Rep. Elton Gallegly (R-Simi Valley) hosts a “meet-and-greet” reception from 3 to 5 p.m. at a Camarillo restaurant to benefit the Marine Corps Toys-for-Tots holiday gift drive. Gallegly is asking guests to bring a monetary donation or unwrapped toy for children. The event will held at Marie Callender’s, 185 E. Daily Drive.
Dec. 22: The Ventura County Republican Party holds its annual Christmas party at the Tower Club, 300 E. Esplanade Drive, Oxnard, from 6 to 8 p.m. Organizers ask for a $15 donation and toys. The group plans to make a donation to Casa Pacifica, the county’s shelter for abused and neglected children. Information, reservations: 389-9531.
