Mission Energy Buys Wales Storage Facility

IRVINE — Mission Energy Co. said Monday it has purchased First Hydro Co., a hydroelectric pump storage facility near Deeside, Wales, boosting the company’s foreign-owned power plant holdings to 28.
The Irvine subsidiary of SCEcorp. outbid Dominion Resources Inc. of Richmond, Va., and Scottish Hydro-Electric Plc of Edinburgh, Scotland. Officials said they could not reveal the value of the deal until the transaction closes Friday.
Mission Energy, which also owns power facilities in Spain, Australia and Indonesia, has 60 projects either operating or in construction worldwide.
