No one was injured Thursday when a pickup truck was hit by a train in the Five Points area of Oxnard, authorities said.

A pickup driven by a 47-year-old Oxnard man, whose name was not released by authorities, was turning from westbound Wooley Road into a carwash located at Five Points when his vehicle was broadsided by a railroad flatcar, said Oxnard Police Officer David Hawtin.

The flatcar was one of three that was being pushed by a westbound Ventura County Railways train engine traveling at less than 10 mph, Hawtin said.

The pickup was pushed about 60 feet because of the impact, and the driver’s door and side of the pickup were badly damaged, Hawtin said. Neither the pickup driver nor his 12-year-old son--who were both wearing seat belts--were injured in the 1:05 p.m. accident in the 100 block of East Wooley Road, he said.

There was no damage to the railroad flatcar, Hawtin said.

An investigation is continuing.
