BOYS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Senik Hot in Fourth Quarter to Lead El Toro to Victory

Travis Senik scored 10 of his 27 points in the fourth quarter to help El Toro hold off Calvary Chapel, 63-61, in the second round of the Century boys’ basketball tournament at Century High Thursday.

Senik also had 10 rebounds and six assists and Mark Wulfemeyer had 16 points for El Toro (10-3), which will play Century in the semifinals.

Garid Beeler scored 18 points for Calvary Chapel (9-2).

In other Century tournament games:

Century 70, El Modena 65--Terrail Zoller had 17 points and 10 rebounds. Chris Lopez also had 17 points for Century (10-3).

Cypress 60, North Hollywood Campbell Hall 44--Chad Boberg scored 30 points for Cypress in a second-round victory. The Centurions (10-2) play Villa Park at 8:40 p.m. in the semifinals.

Villa Park 52, Buena Park 40--Eric Chenowith had 23 points and 11 rebounds for Villa Park (8-3).

In the Brea tournament:

Brea Olinda 85, Rancho Alamitos 69--Eric Repp and Matt Bodiford each scored 18 points for Brea (11-1), which advanced to play La Mirada in the semifinals.

Troy 57, Western 39--Kris Green had 20 points for Troy (8-5), which will play San Diego Rancho Buena Vista in the semifinals.

In the Canyon tournament:

Canyon 53, El Dorado 47 (OT)--Will Byrd and Stephan Magliocco combined for 11 points in overtime to help Canyon advance to the finals. Byrd had a game-high 19 points for Canyon (10-4).

Santa Ana 60, Cerritos 55--Raul Martinez scored 19 points for Santa Ana (7-4), which will play Gardena Serra in the semifinals.

Marina 77, East Glen (Canada) 72--Down by nine points going into the fourth quarter, Eric Christmas scored 18 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter for Marina.

In pool-play games of the Coast Classic at Estancia High:

Dana Hills 63, Rialto 59--Mike Hutchens scored 20 points for Dana Hills (8-5).

Bellflower 67, Estancia 58--Kelvin Gibbs scored 19 of his 21 points in the first half when Bellflower (10-2) took a 34-24 lead. Dane Plock had 19 points for Estancia (12-2), which played without starting center Chris Candlish.

Candlish was automatically suspended for one game after being ejected for fighting in Wednesday’s game against Imperial Beach Marian Catholic.

In the Katella Klassic:

Katella 63, Savanna 45--Jacy Armbruster had 28 points and Carlos Romero added 20 for Katella (11-2), which advanced to play Torrance Bishop Montgomery in the final tonight at 8.

In the San Diego Classic:

Capistrano Valley 79, Bankstown (Australia) 49--Randy Shepard scored 19 points for Capistrano Valley (7-7), which led, 40-15, at the half.

In the San Diego Mt. Carmel tournament:

Los Alamitos 70, Canyon Country Canyon 60--A.D. Lamoureux had 18 points and nine rebounds for Los Alamitos (9-2), which advanced to the semifinals.
