Brea Man’s Heroics Save Injured Cyclist
BREA — A good Samaritan was credited Saturday with saving the life of a La Mirada woman, who had been stuck by a bus after falling from her bicycle.
Barbara Lagerborg, 60, was bike-riding with her husband on Central Avenue near Tamarack Avenue just after 2 p.m. Saturday when she fell into the path of an MTA bus, police said. Lagerborg’s left leg was badly injured in the accident.
Officers said Darryl Hill, 57, of Brea saved her life by immediately applying a tourniquet. She was in guarded condition late Saturday at UCI Medical Center in Orange.
Lagerborg escaped more serious injuries because she was wearing a bicycle helmet, police said.
The bus driver, who waited for police and paramedics to arrive, has not been cited.
Police said they don’t know why Lagerborg fell from her bicycle.
