Yaroslavsky’s Nominees for Commissions Approved
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved the appointment of seven candidates nominated by Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky to serve on various county advisory commissions and councils.
The appointees are:
* Francine Diamond of Pacific Palisades, a former teacher and founder of the Los Angeles Resource Connection for Children and Families, to an indefinite term on the Inter-Agency Council on Child Abuse and Neglect.
* Phalen “Chuck” Hurewitz, a Beverly Hills attorney, who was reappointed to a two-year term on the Commission on Children and Families.
* Teresa De Crescenzo, a Studio City resident, psychotherapist and founder of the Gay and Lesbian Adolescent Social Services, to a two-year term on the Children’s Planning Council.
* Steven Afriat, a political consultant and Sherman Oaks resident, to a four-year term on the Business License Commission.
* Meyer Bernfield, a Studio City resident and senior citizens activist, to a two-year term on the Commission on Aging.
* Daniel Cohen, a Santa Monica resident and retired electrician, who was reappointed to a two-year term on the Commission on Aging.
* Morris Kight, former president of the Gay and Lesbian Community Services Center, who was reappointed to a four-year term on the Commission on Human Relations.
