Richard Hornung, 45, costume designer for stage and screen who earned an Academy Award nomination for clothing the stars of “Barton Fink.” A native of Bethlehem, Pa., who was educated at the University of Illinois, Hornung first worked on Broadway helping costume such shows as “Sunday in the Park With George,” “Brighton Beach Memoirs,” “The News” and “Candida.” In Hollywood, his credits include the films “Raising Arizona,” “Miller’s Crossing,” “The Grifters,” “Young Guns,” “Doc Hollywood,” “Dave,” “Natural Born Killers,” “Nixon” and the upcoming release “City Hall.” He was known for his meticulous work with period and genre fashions, carefully outfitting gangsters or politicians or counterculture youth.
