Orange County’s best-performing company a decade ago was Irvine-based AST Research Inc.
The price of the computer company’s stock had risen by 237% during 1985, when AST had sold 3.2 million shares in two public offerings.
Analysts estimated that the company’s market value had soared 2,614% during the previous year.
