Blackhawks Unbeaten in Nine After Bruins Fall

Bob Probert, Chris Chelios and Bernie Nicholls scored in a 3:14 span early in the third period Tuesday night to lead the Chicago Blackhawks to a 5-2 victory over the Boston Bruins at Boston.

Chicago extended its unbeaten streak to nine games (8-0-1) while sending the Bruins to their first loss in seven (5-1-1). Ed Belfour stopped 19 shots for the victory.

With Jeff Hackett sitting on the bench with his club-record-tying eight-game winning streak, Belfour showed why he is still Chicago’s No. 1 goaltender. He improved to 7-1 lifetime against Boston; Hackett is 0-3.

Flames 10, Lightning 0--Theoren Fleury had three goals and an assist as the Flames rolled past the Lightning in Calgary. Fleury assisted on Phil Housley’s 12th goal and scored himself in the first, second and third periods.

Mike Richter, the winningest goalie in the NHL this season, will be lost to the New York Rangers for four weeks because of a strained groin. . . . The Dallas Stars recalled center Robert Petrovicky from the International Hockey League’s Michigan K-Wings.
