Pacific Has Big Second Half to Defeat UC Irvine
UC Irvine was outscored by 18 points in the second half and lost to Pacific, 76-56, in a Big West Conference women’s basketball Tuesday.
Allah-mi Basheer scored 15 points and Leticia Oseguera had 14 for the Anteaters, who shot 28% from the field in the second half.
Connie Blaisure had 24 points to lead Pacific, which went 52.4% from the field.
UC Irvine drops to 5-5 and will face Nevada on Thursday in another conference game.
In nonconference women’s basketball:
Concordia 77, Cal State Los Angeles 74--Angela Sather had 35 points, 13 rebounds and six steals to lead Concordia.
Concordia (9-4) took a 33-23 halftime lead and was able to hold on. Sather hit 12 of 19 from the field, including three three-pointers.
Freshman Dawn Metz, a Brea Olinda graduate, led Cal State Los Angeles (3-10) with 24 points and nine rebounds.
Wisconsin Stout 74, Chapman 62--Flo Luppani had 11 points and three three-pointers--all in the second half--and Monique Sweet scored 12 points and host Chapman (4-6).
Wisconsin Stout improved to 9-0.
