4 File to Run in Special Election
Four residents have filed to run in the special election March 26 targeting Mayor Karen Lloreda and Councilman Harold R. Kaufman for recall.
Candidates seeking Lloreda’s position if she is ousted are 47-year-old Michael Eggers, an aide for Rep. Ron Packard (R-Oceanside); and Bill Lane, 41, a teacher and businessman.
Challenging Kaufman are Douglas Bitter, 48, a mortgage broker; and Ruby L. Netzley, a retired businesswoman.
Lloreda and Kaufman are being targeted by a group called CHANGE: Citizens Help Against Non-representative Government. In October, the group gathered enough signatures to place the recall issue on the ballot.
