Panorama City Leaders Form Coordinating Council
Panorama City community leaders are forming a new coordinating council to link agencies, community groups, tenant associations and others providing services and resources to Panorama City residents and merchants.
Leslie Yamashita, director of the Panorama City West Neighborhood Assn., said she and other community leaders recognized the need to create an organization after discussing the formation of a public safety committee with local police.
Yamashita said her association recently has sought to expand its contacts and communication with other local organizers.
“Since PCWNA’s purpose is overall improvement of the area and our priority is public safety and image, we are combining our efforts with Capt. Richard Wemmer and Officer Randy Hoffmaster to form the Coordinating Council,” Yamashita wrote in a recent issue of the association’s newsletter.
Wemmer is commanding officer of the Van Nuys Division of the Los Angeles Police Department. Hoffmaster is the division’s senior lead officer for Panorama City.
Other communities in the San Fernando Valley, including Sunland-Tujunga, Pacoima and North Hollywood, also have coordinating councils.
The first meeting of the Panorama City Coordinating Council will be held Feb. 13 at 9:30 a.m., with the location to be announced.
