City Grants Bar Entertainment Permit for One-Year Term
B&E; Saloon has won approval to keep its entertainment permit for another year.
In the past, the bar had to get its permit renewed every 90 days. But police calls have dramatically declined in the last year and the City Council decided to allow the establishment to get an annual permit.
Police said they had received four calls for service involving minor incidents at the B&E; between June and September and no calls since then.
City officials said they issue 90-day entertainment permits to establishments with a track record of numerous police calls as part of a program aimed at making business owners come up with plans to decrease calls.
“This is a highly successful program,” Councilman David M. Cheverton said. “We are now having less calls for service because people are making their places safe.”
B&E; is not the first to receive an annual entertainment permit. The Casbah nightclub last month also won approval to keep its permit for another year.
B&E;’s permit allows it to operate two pool tables, a jukebox, a video poker game and a dart game.
