Southern California College Rallies to Beat Concordia
Eric Walker scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds as Southern California College (14-8, 5-2) rallied from a four-point halftime deficit for a 76-67 victory over Concordia in Golden State Athletic Conference men’s basketball Tuesday at Concordia.
Concordia (15-7, 4-3) was led by Jeff Putnam with 22 points, 11 rebounds and eight blocked shots.
In nonconference men’s basketball:
Chapman 93, UC San Diego 86 (OT)--Pete Sverkos scored 25 points and had nine assists as Chapman (10-9) outscored UC San Diego 13-6, in overtime. Jim Falletta scored 16 points and had nine rebounds and Greg Vanden Ordel scored 14 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks.
In Golden State Athletic Conference women’s basketball:
Concordia 89, Southern California College 62--Jamie Gast had 19 points and 10 rebounds and Heather Carll had 15 points and 10 rebounds for host Concordia (17-6, 4-2), which shot 52% from the field and led, 42-24, at halftime.
In nonconference women’s basketball:
Chapman 66, Christian Heritage 56--Monique Sweet scored 13 points and Flo Luppani had nine points and 11 assists for visiting Chapman (9-7).
In nonconference women’s tennis:
UC Irvine 7, Southern California College 1--The Anteaters begin their season 2-0, the best start since 1988. UC Irvine won six singles, including freshman Leah Fisher at No. 1 singles, who beat ex-Anteater Quyhn Le in three sets.
