Valleywide : Senate Associates Invites Applicants
College graduates interested in learning about the political process may apply for the annual California State Senate Associates Program.
The office of state Sen. Herschel Rosenthal (D-Van Nuys), which coordinates the 11-month program, said applications are now available.
The Associates Program, sponsored by the California Senate and the Center for California Studies at Cal State Sacramento, provides an opportunity to work as full-time Senate staff members in Sacramento and participate in academic seminars with senators and other officials.
“Whether your career goals are in the public or private sector, the Associates Program provides valuable training,” Rosenthal said.
Eighteen associates will be selected in May. Participants who complete the program receive 12 graduate credits from Cal State Sacramento and are paid $1,638 a month, plus health and dental benefits.
Anyone who will have graduated from college by June may apply.
People in mid-career or individuals with advanced degrees are also eligible.
Rosenthal staffers said there is no preferred academic major for acceptance into the program.
For more information or to obtain an application, call Rosenthal’s office at (818) 901-5588.
