‘Slow Down’ Signs to Be Posted on E. 19th
City officials have passed a plan that they hope will deter speeding through residential neighborhoods on the east side of town.
The City Council on Monday voted to install signs warning drivers to slow down on East 19th Street, which is used as a shortcut between the Costa Mesa Freeway and West Coast Highway.
Residents on East 19th Street and the surrounding streets have been lobbying City Hall to take action to slow down traffic by installing speed bumps.
Council members said they feared speed bumps would impede the ability of police and firefighters to respond to calls in the neighborhood.
But they have not ruled them out completely.
The council asked the staff to do some further study on the speed bumps.
