Nation IN BRIEF : VIRGINIA : Magazine Is Sued Over Selling of Name

Ram Avrahami, a former marketing manager for a phone company, is suing U.S. News & World Report, arguing that the magazine had no right to sell his name and address on its mailing list to another company without his permission. However, a judge instructed Avrahami to refile his lawsuit in a higher court. Representatives of the direct-marketing industry say the lawsuit is unfounded, and they fear devastating consequences if Avrahami prevails.
