Man Arrested After Hiding Out at Home
A Simi Valley man suspected of parole violation and domestic abuse was arrested early Sunday after hiding in his house from police for more than five hours.
Kenneth Michael Goodson, 22, was charged with interfering with a police officer, violating parole and committing domestic violence. He remained in the Ventura County Jail on Sunday afternoon.
Police, who were looking for Goodson for allegedly violating parole by possessing a firearm, arrived at his Fair Avenue home at 10:49 p.m. Saturday and tried to contact him at the front door. Two other people came out of the house and told police that Goodson was inside, but Goodson did not respond when officers asked him to come to the door and talk, according to police.
Concerned that Goodson might have a gun, police called their Special Weapons and Crisis Negotiations teams to the house about 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Crisis negotiators attempted to contact Goodson, again with no results.
Then at 4:13 a.m., members of the Special Weapons Team entered the rear bedroom of the house and took Goodson into custody. Although Goodson did not struggle with police, one officer cut his thumb on glass from a window police had broken as they entered the room.
