Or Leave ‘em Blue: Nominations for the annual Golden Raspberry (Razzie) Awards, being given for the 16th year by a group of naysayers who select the worst in movies, were announced Monday--as usual, on the eve of Academy Award nominations. Leading the pack with mentions in 13 categories (a new record) was “Showgirls.” Other worst picture nominees were “Congo,” “It’s Pat,” “The Scarlet Letter” and “Waterworld.” “Honorees” in that and other categories will be announced at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on March 24, a day before the Oscars are presented. Winners are entitled to receive a gold-spray-painted, golf-ball sized plastic raspberry atop a reel of Super-8 film. It’s valued at $2.17.
