Woman Killed, Man Hurt in Crash
SHADOW HILLS — An elderly woman was killed and a 49-year-old man injured after their car ran off the road in Shadow Hills and struck a power pole, police said.
Lottie Allbright, 78, of Tujunga died Thursday night after being thrown from the car in which she was riding, police said.
The driver, Jesse Avery, also of Tujunga, hit a curb and lost control of his car while traveling west on Wentworth Street near Radwin Avenue at about 11 p.m., Valley Traffic Officer Leona Thomas said.
Allbright was pronounced dead at the scene, Thomas said.
Avery, who suffered several fractured ribs, a broken leg and a collapsed lung, was taken to Holy Cross Medical Center in Mission Hills, police said.
Police said Avery was wearing his seat belt, but it was not known whether Allbright was wearing a seat belt.
