COUNTYWIDE : Community College Leaders Honored on Presidents Day

At its “Salute to Two Presidents” Monday, KinderCaminata will honor Saddleback College President Ned Doffoney and Irvine Valley College President Daniel Larios for leadership in their field.

The public program and reception will present the two educators with proclamations and commendations from seven south Orange County cities and also raise money for Kinder-Caminata, a nonprofit organization that introduces schoolchildren to college and careers.

Last year, KinderCaminata took more than 8,000 kindergarten students to four Orange County community college campuses to learn the importance of higher education.

Proceeds from this year’s “Salute to Two Presidents,” which requests a donation of $30 per person, will be used to provide transportation for kindergarten students to visit community colleges, said organizer Galal Ker.

The event, which will include dinner and entertainment by La Rondalla De Sol, will be at the Garden Grove Community Center, 11300 Stanford Ave., from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Information: (714) 581-3625.
