Compaq Offers Its First PC Line for Schools: The Houston-based computer maker said its new Presario ES series is aimed at boosting its share of the education market, long a stronghold of Apple Computer Inc. The line, which will be available in March, comes in two models. It includes a CD-ROM drive, an integrated 16-bit sound system, a multimedia monitor display and a choice of 11 LearningPaq education software bundles. The line is priced from $2,049 to $2,699 and includes a choice of 100-megahertz or 120-megahertz Pentium processors. Compaq Computer Corp. stock rose 12.5 cents to $49.75 on the NYSE.
