1 Stabbed, 3 Held in Eatery Brawl
GLENDALE — A brawl that began on the dance floor of a Glendale restaurant spilled into the streets early Saturday, involving about 50 people who broke chairs and threw bottles, police said.
Glendale police arrived at Chuy’s Restaurant and Bar at 145 Maryland Ave. about 2 a.m. to find the crowd fighting outside the bar, Sgt. James Fitzgerald said. Three men were arrested and one person was stabbed during the fight.
“When we have a problem, it’s usually a good-sized problem because there are so many people there,” Fitzgerald said. The bar has been a hot spot for fights and drug use in the past, he said.
It was unclear what prompted Saturday’s fight.
William Cuervo, 24, of Los Angeles was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed Armando Lara, 22, of Bell once in the stomach, Fitzgerald said. Cuervo then ran, but officers caught him and recovered a knife, police said.
Lara refused treatment, Fitzgerald said.
Mando Urquidez, 25, of San Fernando was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor battery for allegedly hitting Samuel Richardson, 46, in the face in front of a police officer, Fitzgerald said.
Officers also arrested Frank Baldonado, 25, of Los Angeles on suspicion of driving under the influence of PCP after leaving the restaurant, police said. A marijuana cigarette doused with PCP was found in Baldonado’s car, Fitzgerald said.
The three men were being held in the Glendale’s jail.
