Milken had earned huge fees for advising people such as Ted Turner and Rupert Murdoch, questions arose about whether this violated a 1990 deal. Milken, above, had been banned from the securities industry for life. The former junk bond king’s probation, due to expire today, will now be extended by 90 days as the government takes a closer look at his activities (D1). . . . His lawyer denies any wrongdoing by Milken.
WINNING WAYS: Two years ago, the boys’ basketball team at Canoga Park High was on the skids. Then came new Coach Ralph Turner and everything changed. Tonight, the 22-4 squad takes on Van Nuys High for the City Section 3-A title (C10). . . . Critics say Turner has benefited unfairly from transfer students.
FRAUD WATCH: Los Angeles County Supervisors Mike Antonovich and Zev Yaroslavsky will be among those present when state officials come to town today to give the county $545,347 for its efforts in battling welfare overpayments and fraud. . . . “Every little bit counts,” Antonovich spokesman Peter Whittingham said.
