Grammys: Great Art--or Something Else?
The quality of music presented on the Grammy Awards TV show (“The Big Winners? You Oughta Know,” Calendar, Feb. 29) struck a new low in our national culture. It is hard to believe that this was representative of an art in this country that has a background that has established us as a world leader.
Some of the performances were on a high-school level. If this is representative of our best in the popular field our culture is headed for the dumper.

Bravo to the Grammy show and a special salute to Bobby McFerrin, Richard Dreyfuss and Michael Greene for reminding us that we must fund the arts. The arts are what binds us together as one people. Congress, are you listening? Please write to your representatives today.
