TONIGHT: INTERNATIONAL DANCE

The International Folk Dancers from Brigham Young University will perform traditional dances from around the world tonight in a 7:30 p.m. concert at the Oxnard Civic Auditorium.

Fresh from a performance last night at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, the 36 dancers and five musicians will demonstrate dances of Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Latin America, Canada and the United States.

Guest choreographers representing those regions have helped design the program to enhance the show’s authenticity. Traditional costumes and live and taped regional music will add to the cultural flavor.

SUNDAY: CHORALE CONCERT

Master Chorale continues its acclaimed work under the direction of Paul Salamunovich, a Los Angeles native who sang under Wagner’s direction beginning in the late ‘40s. The ensemble was awarded top honors recently in an ASCAP and Chorus America competition. In Ventura, the chorale’s program will include works by Haydn, Durufle, Bruckner, and folk songs of various cultures. Tickets are $18-23; 653-7282.
