Hueneme’s Jenkins Wins Twice in Santa Barbara
Ronney Jenkins of Hueneme High won the 100 meters and long jump, and ran legs on the Vikings’ 800- and 400-meter relay teams that took first and second places, respectively, in the Santa Barbara Easter Relays on Saturday at Santa Barbara City College.
Jenkins, who is bound for Brigham Young on a football scholarship, timed a personal best of 10.78 seconds in the 100 to defeat Channel League rival Phillip Pipersburg of Santa Barbara, who clocked 10.85.
He leaped a season best of 23 feet 6 inches in the long jump.
Hueneme clocked 1 minute 31.80 seconds in the 800 relay and 42.07 in the 400 relay.
Brock Diediker and Joy Munson of Newbury Park, and Anicia Rimm of Oxnard were the other local individual winners.
Diediker won the boys’ shotput with a mark of 48-6 1/2 and Munson bounded a personal best of 36-5 3/4 in the girls’ triple jump.
Rimm leaped 17-5 in the girls’ long jump.
