The West Hills Regional Medical Center has changed its name to Columbia West Hills Medical Center.

The name change is designed to accent the hospital’s relationship with its parent company, Nashville, Tenn.-based Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp., which acquired the facility in 1993 from Galen Health Care Inc., hospital officials said.

The 236-bed, acute-care facility is located at 7300 Medical Center Drive in West Hills.

Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp. owns more than 340 hospitals as well as 130 outpatient surgical centers and 200 home health care agencies in 36 states, England and Switzerland, company officials said. In 1993, it merged with the Hospital Corp. of America.
