Film Registry Showcase: Cable’s Turner Classic Movies will turn over its prime-time schedule the week of April 24-30 to showcase nearly 40 of the 175 movies in the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry. Among the scheduled films are “Birth of a Nation” (1915), “The Philadelphia Story” (1940), “Citizen Kane” (1941), “Casablanca” (1942) and “Singin’ in the Rain” (1952). Twenty-five films are added to the preservation-minded registry each year, chosen for their “aesthetic, historical or cultural” significance.
