Viacom Merchandise: Viacom Inc. said it will open a retail store this fall in Chicago to sell goods based on its films, cartoons and other properties. The New York-based company, the parent of Blockbuster Entertainment, Paramount Pictures and cable networks such as MTV (the home of cartoon characters Beavis and Butt-head), will sell apparel, accessories, games and other merchandise. The move would place Viacom in competition with Walt Disney Co. and Time Warner Inc.’s Warner Bros. unit, both of which have their own stores throughout the country.
