SPECIAL TO THE TIMES

This is the time for super sales, and since traveling a few freeway miles never stops the intrepid Southern California bargain shopper, it’ll be worth going beyond the Valley for some excellent deals this weekend.

Women who wear sizes 14 to 36 are painfully aware of how difficult it is to find quality apparel at bargain prices. For them, Saturday should be underlined with exclamation marks. A giant liquidation sale by Designers Unlimited will take place at The Showroom, a new fashion showroom for plus sizes.

John Sun Silks, 2 Rare, Vikki Vi, Coco & Juan, Gossip, LBW, Ada Mabel and many more labels will be offered at 25% to 70% below retail.

The National Council of Jewish Women/Los Angeles, an organization that runs thrift shops in Reseda and North Hollywood, is holding its annual Fabulous Flea Market at the Los Angeles headquarters Sunday.

All proceeds from the sale of this donated merchandise go to the group’s charities. This is like a giant, upscale garage sale where everything from new designer clothes to antiques, many donated by local celebrities, will be offered at incredible prices. The sale is from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 543 N. Fairfax Ave., Los Angeles. MasterCard, Visa accepted. Call (213) 651-2930.
