Hughes Division Plans Job Cuts: Hughes-Avicom International, a unit of Hughes Electronics Corp. that makes in-flight entertainment systems for the airline industry, said it plans to slash 120 jobs from its Pomona work force in the next two months. The move is part of an effort to cut costs and improve efficiency, Hughes-Avicom said. The unit employs about 1,100 workers overall. Last year, Hughes-Avicom moved its headquarters to Pomona from Glendora. Hughes Electronics is a unit of General Motors Corp.
