The Musical Theatre Company will auction art and present music Sunday to raise money for its upcoming production of “Sunday in the Park With George.” The benefit, “A Sunday Afternoon in Laguna,” begins at 2 p.m. with a champagne reception at Tivoli Terrace restaurant in Laguna Beach, followed by a silent auction of work by nearly 40 local artists. Susan Egan, star of Broadway’s “Beauty and the Beast,” will headline the 4 p.m. musical performance. Tickets are $50-$250. (714) 957-8587.

Winners of last year’s fifth annual John Wayne Airport Youth Art Contest, “Airfield: Flight of Adventure,” also won in their age categories in the statewide jurying of the 1996 International Aviation Art Contest, sponsored by the National Aeronautic Assn. in cooperation with the Federation Aeronautique Internationale. Dennis Nice, a student at Arroyo School in Santa Ana, won first prize in Category I (ages 6-9). Second prize was awarded to Gordon Cha, who attends Corey School in Buena Park. Christopher Kawagiwa, a student at Vista View School in Westminster, received first prize in Category II (ages 10-13).

The Children’s Museum at La Habra has received a $10,000 donation from PacifiCare Health Systems, Inc. The funds will underwrite programs for cross-cultural understanding and literacy.
