Fullerton has three solid pitchers but when it mattered most, the Hornets turned to Osborne, from La Mirada High. She got three consecutive complete-game victories in two days to help the Hornets earn a berth in the state tournament, which starts Friday in Fremont. Osborne (19-1) beat Ventura, 3-0, and Long Beach, 10-1. She also had two hits and scored three runs. She then beat Long Beach again, 2-1, Saturday in the championship game.

Softball

* Cypress, sophomore. She had two triples, two doubles and a single and drove in three runs as Cypress won three of four games to earn its eighth consecutive berth in the state tournament.
