ConAgra Grocery Products Names Gustin New President

* David J. Gustin has been named president and chief operating officer of ConAgra Grocery Products Cos. in Fullerton, part of Omaha-based ConAgra Inc. He was also appointed a member of ConAgra’s Office of the President, the company’s senior operating management group. Gustin succeeds Albert J. Crosson, who will retire in July.

Gustin will be responsible for ConAgra’s branded consumer food companies which include ConAgra Frozen Foods, Golden Valley Microwave Foods Inc., Hunt-Wesson Grocery Products Cos., ConAgra Grocery Products Companies International and Knott’s Berry Farm Foods. He was previously president of Hunt-Wesson Grocery Products Cos., which is composed of several Hunt-Wesson companies. Gustin joined Hunt-Wesson in 1992 as president of the Orville Redenbacher/Swiss Miss Foods Co. Before that, he was senior vice president of marketing for Frito Lay Inc.

* Otto Berlin has joined Sync Research Inc., an Irvine computer networking products company, as vice president of international sales. He was formerly vice president and general manager of the personal communications technologies group at AT&T; Paradyne.

* Susan Douglass has been named vice president and manager of the new Irvine office of American E & S, a wholesale insurance broker. She had been vice president with Swett & Crawford.

* Paul Hughes has been appointed a vice president with the Orange County office of John Burnham & Co. Insurance Services, where he will specialize in insurance and surety bonds for the construction industry. Hughes was previously a vice president with Johnson and Higgins of California Inc.

* James P. O’Shaughnessy has been appointed vice president and chief intellectual property counsel at Rockwell International Corp. in Seal Beach. Before joining the company, he was a partner with the law firm of Foley & Lardner in Milwaukee.

* Duston M. Williams has been named senior vice president and chief financial officer of Western Digital Corp., an Irvine information storage management company. He succeeds D. Scott Mercer, who left to become senior vice president at Dell Computer Corp. Williams was previously vice president and treasurer at Western Digital.

* Gordon Quinn has been named vice president of Olec Corp.’s electronics division in Irvine. He had been electronic division manager. Quinn will now be responsible for new product development and worldwide sales and distribution.

* Perry J. Viscounty has been selected to head the new statewide Intellectual Property and Technology practice group of Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP. Viscounty, a partner in the Newport Beach office, is in charge of client development and attorney recruiting and training.
