Commissioner Joins Water District Board
Planning Commissioner Mark Korando has been appointed to the board of directors of the Mesa Consolidated Water District, filling the seat held by Mario Durante for more than three decades.
Board President Trudy Ohlig said the board picked Korando over the three other candidates Tuesday because of his extensive government background, including his service on several citizens committees for the city of Costa Mesa.
“He knows how a board works and he knows how to make policies,” Ohlig said.
Durante, 75, resigned his post in April after 36 years on the board.
No reason was given for his resignation, though he had been in ill health.
Korando resigned from the Planning Commission on Wednesday and will be sworn in as a member of the water agency board tonight.
He will finish Durante’s term, which expires in November.
