3 Injured in Brawl Among Bar Patrons
A man was stabbed and two others suffered minor injuries in a brawl that began in a bar and spilled onto the street, police said.
Two men were arrested in connection with the 12:30 a.m. Wednesday fight at Hennessey’s Tavern in the 200 block of Ocean Avenue, said Laguna Beach Police Sgt. Robert Rahaeuser.
The fighting started on the second floor of the bar where Kurt Westgaard, 38, of Laguna Beach was hit with a beer bottle, Rahaeuser said.
Employees diffused the fight by closing the bar and evacuating customers. The man suspected of attacking Westgaard apparently was at Hennessey’s with two friends, who then started another fight outside with two other men, police said.
“The second altercation started with some name-calling, which escalated into a shoving match, and a knife was produced,” Rahaeuser said.
Pablo Abrahams, 21, of Huntington Beach was stabbed three times in the abdomen. His friend Richard Bagby, 23, also of Huntington Beach, suffered facial injuries.
Both men were reported in good condition at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center.
Westgaard was treated at a local hospital for a cut on the back of his head.
About 15 witnesses at the scene helped lead police to a home where they arrested Jesse Stephen Fisher, 20, of San Diego and Naythan Anthony Manisiano, 22, of Laguna Beach.
Both were booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and attempted murder, Rahaeuser said. The man suspected of stabbing Abrahams is at large.
