City Gives Green Light to Laser Tag Business
Laser tag is coming to Agoura Hills.
The Planning Commission has unanimously approved an application by TJB Enterprises Inc. for a 6,967-square-foot facility at 5806 Stonecrest Drive in the Agoura Hills Town Center. The company says it hopes to have it open by July.
Laser tag is an indoor game in which participants form teams to do battle in semi-darkened mazes with toy guns that shoot harmless laser beams. The object is to rack up points while avoiding being hit. It was introduced a few years ago and has become popular with people of all ages.
Fans say it’s a harmless way to work off tension and have fun. But others aren’t so sure. City Councilman Denis Weber and Planning Commission member Chris Hendricks say they worry that it might promote violence.
“There is so much violence in our society now,” Weber said.
Is it possible it could actually prevent violence by giving people a safe way to work off their aggressions?
Weber said that would probably be true in most cases. “It’s the guys that are on the edge that I worry about,” he said.
