Suspect in Fatal Hit-Run Arrested
SAN FERNANDO — A suspect in a hit-and-run accident that killed a 20-year-old San Fernando resident as both men were leaving a wake for a shooting victim surrendered Friday, authorities said.
Arthur Tarin, 36, of San Fernando, was booked on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony hit and run, said Det. Lance Steaman of the San Fernando Police Department.
Tarin is suspected of driving the car that struck Eddie Ramirez about 10:30 p.m. Thursday as Ramirez crossed Alexander Street in the 400 block, Steaman said.
Tarin told detectives he had been attending a wake at a residence there and did not see Ramirez until the last moment, then panicked and fled, Steaman said.
Both men had attended the wake for a friend who was shot to death in Thousand Oaks.
Tarin is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in San Fernando Municipal Court, said Officer Irene Aguilar.
