. . . Director Merle Hatleberg of Costa Mesa Senior Center began a fund-raising effort to start “Someone Cares” soup kitchen at Rea Community Center.
“I see such a need here,” she said, referring to the 75 people who lined up outside a nearby free medical clinic on the average day. “This will be for anyone who’s hungry.”
