N.C. Publisher to Buy CityMedia: American City Business Journals Inc. said it will acquire CityMedia Inc., increasing its nationwide circulation by more than 27%. Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. American City said it expects to complete the acquisition this summer. Minneapolis-based CityMedia’s six weekly business journals will bring American City’s total to 35, increasing its circulation to 445,000 from 350,000. American City, based in Charlotte, N.C., was purchased in October 1995 by closely held Advance Publications Inc. for about $270 million. It expected revenue for 1995 of about $125 million before being acquired, it said. Three-quarters of American City’s revenue comes from advertising and a quarter comes from paid circulation.
