Vroman’s Books
Regarding “The Plot Thickens for Booksellers,” June 18: I am one of the lucky people who live close to Vroman’s in Pasadena. I do shop at Crown and Barnes & Noble, but the majority of my purchases are at Vroman’s. It has something the others don’t: employees who love to read books and keep up with the latest titles in all genres. The service I receive is a nice change from chain stores, whose first concern is making a sale.
An example: I needed to order a book Vroman’s was out of. About 15 minutes later, I received a call saying they had found the book on a cart. You don’t get that kind of service from a large chain.
