Blauer Eliminated at U.S. Junior Amateur

Nate Blauer of Trabuco Canyon survived the first round at the 1996 U.S. Junior Amateur Championships in Flagstaff, Ariz., Friday, but was eliminated in the second after 23 holes of match play.

Blauer needed 19 holes to defeat Kyle Thompson of Easley, S.C., in the opening round at the par-71, 7,051-yard Forest Highlands Golf Club. However, he was ousted by Shane McMenamy of Grand Forks, N.D., a round later.

Jin Park of Fullerton lost in the first round, 4 and 2, to Scott Lieberwirth of Carlsbad, N.M. Adam Ainbinder of Huntington Beach lost to D.J. Trahan of Hilton Head Island, S.C., after 20 holes.
