Associated Press
NEW YORK — A South Carolina woman who allegedly abandoned her 5-year-old son in a Brooklyn toy store has been extradited to New York and charged, police said Saturday.
Tamika Adams, 19, was brought to New York late Friday and arraigned on charges of abandonment and endangering the welfare of a child. If convicted, she faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $1,000 fine.
Her son, Jonathan, has been living with a New York foster family since March, when he was left in a Toys R Us store.
