How bad a night was it Friday for USA Boxing?
In the chaos of the American protest over featherweight Floyd Mayweather’s disputed loss, charges of corruption against Emil Jetchev, the Bulgarian chairman of judging, and Antonio Tarver’s surprising failure, Kurt Stenerson, USA Boxing’s director of communications, lost his cellular phone to a thief.
Stenerson spent a good portion of Saturday dialing the number, curious to see who would answer.
“I’m probably going to ring it and hear, ‘Jetchev here,’ ” Stenerson joked.
