Re “Suit Says Christian Coalition Improperly Assisted GOP,” July 31: Recent assertions of Christian Coalition wrongdoing in the distribution of its voter guides and scorecards can only be the work of Democrats desperate to keep their perfidy hidden from view.

I have seen the maligned guides and scorecards and they are most assuredly not slanted in favor of any partisan group. Up front, the guide or scorecard describes key legislation of interest to coalition supporters and states the official coalition position on the issue. Voters are then invited to investigate the actual voting history of their elected representatives on the following pages (information that can be easily checked against the official record). That this information is frequently damaging to Democrats and far less damaging to Republicans is not probative of coalition support for GOP candidates. Rather, it reflects Democrats’ abandonment of the principles near and dear to the hearts of Christian Coalition members.
