Cal State Fullerton has been awarded a $216,000 grant to be used for upgrades in the undergraduate chemistry program.

The award was given by UCLA, which has developed a partnership with the Fullerton campus and 24 community colleges.

The partnership’s goal, officials said, is to help chemistry departments develop a modern molecular science discipline, which includes molecular life science, materials science and environmental science along with general chemistry.

University officials said they plan to use part of the money for a computer network that links universities, community colleges and high schools for sharing molecular science resources.
