Driver Held in Fatal Auto Crash
A man was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after an auto collision early Tuesday that killed a passenger, a Fillmore man.
Jose Martinez Loredo, 36, died at the scene of the accident, said Scott Carrier, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
The crash occurred shortly after midnight at Sand Canyon Road near Comet Way, said Lt. Carl Deeley, of the Santa Clarita station of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Deeley said Loredo was a passenger in the car driven by the suspected drunk driver whose name deputies were still trying to confirm. The driver, who was arrested on suspicion of felony drunk driving, was not hurt, Deeley said.
The unidentified driver of the second car was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital in Valencia for treatment of minor injuries, Deeley said.
