Tickets go on sale today for a Nov. 14 lecture featuring O. J. Simpson prosecutor Marcia Clark, perhaps the nation’s best-known female prosecutor.

Clark’s appearance at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza will be the inaugural presentation in the Perspectives Series, a set of lectures presenting innovative viewpoints on education, politics, world peace, medicine, science, technology, arts and entertainment, said Marilyn Woods, a member of the advisory board of the Ventura County Regional Conference for Women, which is organizing the series.

“We want to bring people of international reputation to Ventura County,” Woods said.

Clark’s lecture will benefit the domestic violence intervention programs of Interface Children, Family Services, a countywide agency. “We felt like she is probably the most visible and least overexposed speaker we could get,” Woods said. “She is also one of the leading female role models in the world.”

Domestic violence is an issue that did not receive the attention it deserved until the Simpson trial, Woods said. Now, it is very timely, she added.

“When things are in the public mind, that is a good time to try to raise money for those causes,” Woods said. “This happens to be a very, very hot topic these days.”

The Perspectives Series will consist of three lectures each year by notable people and will raise funds for various nonprofit organizations that provide assistance primarily in the area of women’s issues and child advocacy, Woods said.

Future speakers in the series will be announced at the Clark lecture.

Tickets will be on sale at Ticketmaster and at the Probst Center for the Performing Arts’ box office. Prices range from $20 to $100, which includes a reception with Clark. For more information on the series, contact Woods at (805) 644-9555.
