7 Injured on Universal’s Jurassic Park Ride
UNIVERSAL CITY — Seven riders on Universal Studios’ new Jurassic Park attraction suffered minor injuries Friday when two boats nearing the end of the ride collided, an amusement park spokesman said.
A worker near the ride reported seeing one of the boats stall about 4 p.m. and get hit from behind by another, he said.
“The seven guests walked away from the ride,” he said.
Six adults and one teenager were taken to hospitals for observation.
Art Marrujo, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Fire Department, confirmed that the injuries were minor.
Five of the park-goers were taken to Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank and two others went to North Hollywood Medical Center.
Five were quickly released.
As of Friday evening only two were still at St. Joseph undergoing X-rays, said Linda Willeford, a spokeswoman for the hospital.
She said they were not expected to be hospitalized.
Engineers fixed an electronic problem and reopened the ride about 7:30 p.m., the park spokesman said.
